Practice Learning Manager

LCHS Practice Learning Manager works in partnership with academic universities and LCHS placement area clinical leads to agree and arrange student placements. The role ensures supervisors, assessors and managers are aware of any key changes and communicates opportunities for supervisor and assessor training. A database of trained supervisors and assessors is maintained of those who have met the academic and professional register requirements to support and assess students in practice.

New standards for the supervision and assessment of adult nursing were introduced by the NMC in January 2019.Please follow the links below to find out more information.

LCHS current mentors (including sign off mentors) are required to attend a 2 hour conversion course which can be booked via ESR. This will enable mentors to convert to the role of student nurse supervisor and Practice assessor. LCHS will no longer be running mentor updates as part of mandatory training. Updates for mentors will now be 2 yearly.

LCHS staff that do not currently hold a mentor qualification need to attend a 2 day supervisor and practice assessor course which is held in house from Sept 19 onwards. Book via ESR.
